Crown Shy Beanie
I knit my daughter a hat to go with her school uniform. Stylecraft special DK yarn in the shade proper purple turned out to be an exact match for her jumper. I got it in Blanchardstown Wool Shop. I have a bunch of hat patterns for double knitting so I asked her to pick one out. She chose the Crown Shy Beanie by Ysolda Teague. I'm happy she picked it as I've admired this pattern ever since i got it as part of Knitworthy 7.
This hat knit up pretty quickly and it had different techniques to keep you engaged. I really liked how the folded brim was done, you knit a stocking stitch part and then a ribbed part which is hidden inside. It's clever as it gives extra warmth plus the ribbing pulls the hat in to keep it a bit tighter. I think it looks great. Then there is a cable and dip stitch section which is fun to knit and the repeat is easy to remember. I loved the crown shaping too. I added a pom pom as my daughter likes them. A satisfying knit.
