Fenweh Top

I finished this crochet vest top in march 2025. The pattern is the Fenweh top from Nomad Stitches and it is in her book Colourful Crochet Knitwear. I think Nomad Stitches is one of the most talented crochet designers around. Her work is gorgeous and the patterns really show that there is more to crochet than granny squares and oversized amigurumi. (Nothing wrong with those techniques but crochet is so verstaile and it's nice to see other more complex techniques getting their due.) She uses several different colourwork and construction techniques to make crochet garments that look beautiful and fit well. She uses mosaic crochet in the Fenweh top.

I hadn't done mosaic crochet before but I soon got into the swing of it. It looks much more complex than it is and in the end I found it be a lot of fun. It's even easy to correct any mistakes on the next row. I just love the contrast of the black and white in this top. I got this as a kit from This Is Knit and have to admit I don't know what the yarn is. They aren't selling this kit anymore and while I have some leftover yarn I can't find the band. I will check in my notebooks in case I wrote the yarn name down there and will update if I find it. It's a fine merino and is very nice quality.

I have been wearing this vest over a long sleeve black top or over a black dress that I really like. It's really striking and I think it looks great.
