Porter Tie Top
I got the Style Arc Porter pattern in a sale. It seems like quite a versatile pattern with multiple bodice options and different sleeve options. It can be made as a top or skirt. I used some fabric my mum had given me to make the sleeveless top option with a tie front. I thought it would be a good way to test out the sizing as I hadn't used a style arc pattern before.
I had heard that their instructions were pretty minimal but I found them to be fine. They weren't as step by step as some of the indie patterns for beginners are but if you have a little experience they were fine. The illustrations were helpful I thought. It wasn't difficult to make and came together quite quickly. It came out fitting me quite well.
However I haven't worn it much and I think it is due to the style of the top. I'm in Ireland where we don't really get the weather to wear a top like this with nothing underneath it. I usually opt for clothes with sleeves. I would probably wear this top over something and I find it to be a bit too cropped to look well over jeans or trousers. If I wear a top under it I find it's a bit short and you see the top under it. So I'll have to try style it differently so it looks better. It may work over a plain navy trousers with a navy top underneath.
