Tie Dress
In July after being away on holidays I got stuck into a project I had wanted to do for some time. I had quite a length of good quality mustard linen. It was part of a bundle of fabric I bought from a local lady who was moving house a few years ago. I was looking for a pattern to do it justice and eventually decided on the tie dress from Sewing Therapy. I love their clever, simple but impactful design. There is a lot of use of ties and wraps.
The tie dress as the name suggests can be tied in several different ways. There are two sets of ties on the front and back so they can be tied at the front, back or sides. The lining part is cleverly caught into the seams on the inside and gives a nice finish to the neck. The necklines are a standard or v neck so you can different looks depending on what way you wear the dress. I did the version with the shorter sleeves.
I found it a joy to sew, linen is lovely to work with. I took care on all finishing. The dress turned out so well. I love it. It's more medium weight so perfect for the fickle Irish summer weather. I wore it on a night out and felt very nice in it.
