Romy Lantern Sleeve Blouse
Back in April I was inspired by Sequingirlie Creates to join in with #SewAprilBlouse. It's a sewing challenge to sew a blouse in April. Sam had some great suggestions for blouses in this video. Check out Sam's channel, she has so many great videos about sewing and lots of inspiration. In the video she spoke about the Romy lantern sleeve blouse from Tiana's Closet. I really liked the look of it so decided to give it a go. Tiana's closet is a great resource with many free patterns. The instructions are minimal so probably not for a total begineer but if you have sewn a few things you'll be fine.
I used the floral polyester I got in Kilkenny to make the blouse. It's an easy construction and the bodice fitted me really well which is nice as it can be used a basic block to modify. The sleeves are a lot of fun and the lantern effect adds a fun detail. The sleeves are supposed to be 3/4 length but I'm not tall so they are full length on me. So I could shorten them. Sam of Sequingirlie has a few videos where she shows how you can modify sleeves so that could be fun to try with this pattern as a basic. I was really pleased with this one and I had no problems making it.
