Hexagon Cardigan

After finishing my winter jumper I decided to go back to crochet for a bit. For a while now I've been seeing lovely hexagon cardigans and I really wanted to try one. I got the Craft And A Cuppa hexagon cardigan pattern. I know there are plenty free tutorials out there and I could work it out but her pattern is well written, clear and easy to follow with lots of tips to get a good result so she deserves payment for that.

I wanted to use up my leftover stylecraft special DK so I found a colour combination with lots of blues and a few pops of colour. I used a 4mm hook and off I went. This was very quick to work up as once you get the hang of the pattern it's nice and easy. I watched a lot of winter olympics while making it. As the hexagons got bigger it became clear that I probably wouldn't have enough yarn. I could have added more colours but I didn't want to break the sequence. As this was supposed to be a stash busting project I didn't want to buy more yarn to finish it. My daughter decided she liked the cardigan and it fit her well so I finished it off to give to her. She liked the cropped wide sleeves so I left them like that. I added a bit of a collar. I'm pleased with it, the colours turned out well and it's very fun.

I have more double knitting that a friend gave me and the colours are ones that would go with things I wear so I will probably make another. It's an easy pattern to make but very effective looking when finished. For my version I'd make cuffs and maybe lengthen it.
